Hi miantial,

Interestingly, during a certain period in the past (more than two thousand years ago), the shape of 玉 was very similar to that of 王 (a king). In short, there was no dot in the character. So, the dot was later added to clearly distinguish the two characters, 王 and 玉. Jade (玉) is the king (王) of jewelry in China, isn't it? Incidentally, there is the character "珏" (jue2, 王+玉), and this means "a pair of jade beads. "珏" was also used as a measure word for 玉 in ancient China.

"学法" is usually used in the sense of "how to learn, learning method", but I've come across another "学法" on the Internet today. It's "to learn laws".

Hi michael188,

I'm not so sure, but maybe that's because Karaoke resources in China have been mainly supplied, legal or illegal, through Hong Kong and Taiwan, where traditional characters are used.

Hi cassie,

Your comment reminds me of a Chinese saying. 中国的成语和俗语真的齐全,什么都有,it seems that Chinese people said everything, just like Goethe!

To kill the general, first kill his horse.

Hi kbergman,

I've heard that "AA制" probably originates from Honk Kong, and there are a few "etymologies" of the "AA", for example, Algebraic Average, Acting Appointment, and All Apart, but it seems there is no accepted one.
