蔡伦 (Cailun) might be the first person who made high-quality and low-cost paper, but actually there were already poor-quality and high-cost papers of similar kind in pre-Cailun times in China.

October 6, 2008 at 11:22 AM哈哈，好像两位老师把最重要的东西给忘了。中国和埃及之间有另外一个很重要的共同之处，就是文字。古代中国有甲骨文，古埃及有圣书体，两者都是古代最有代表性的象形文字。
汉字就像中国文明一样一直传承和发展下来的文化遗产。因为汉字系统的历史传承性，甲骨文十九世纪末被发现后，语言学者在短时间内比较容易解读了这些三千几百年前的古老文字。
与此相反，古埃及圣书体一直以来都是无法解读的神秘文字，一七九九年罗塞塔石碑发现后还需要二十多年才被解密。由于圣书体很难破解，所以法国产生了一个语言大英雄叫商博良。

When you are at a loss which to take, I just recommend you select a shorter one in Chinese, although this tactic does not necessarily always work well. As far as I can see on the Internet, 兄弟 is much more frequently used than 哥哥弟弟. Having said that, I love the phrase "哥哥弟弟" as it sounds very conversational and friendly.
