September 2, 2007 at 11:46 AMHi henning! Thanks for your quick reply. Let me ask you some more questions. Do you have the governmental institution in charge of determining the gender of new words? Which gender do you tentatively choose when you have no way of knowing the right one? If I were you, I would select the neuter gender!

September 2, 2007 at 11:01 AMHi henning, An off-topic question about feminine/masculine/neuter nouns. How do you officially determine the gender of a newly-coined or imported word in German? What do you usually do when you use a new word of which gender has not been determined? Are there any tips?

September 2, 2007 at 7:24 AMHi goulnikly and billybobjoebobwilly !!

August 29, 2007 at 1:43 PMThat kind of conversation usually doesn't happen between lovers. Probably a typical one between husband and wife.

September 2, 2007 at 12:20 PMHi henning, Thanks again for your answer!! > Chinese "磕头", but don't ask me > how its Gender was determined... A long long time ago in German, there were a lot of henpecked husbands, therefore most Germans naturally considered the word 磕头 a masculine noun. Maybe I am wrong.
