December 15, 2008 at 9:56 AMWhen 了 is at the end of a sentence，it acts as a modal particle （语气助词）rather than an aspectual particle （动态助词）It shows：
1）Something new has emerged：
下雨了。
开花了。
2）Changes in terms of understanding of certain things，opinion，ideas or action：
我了解你的问题了。
我现在没空，不能陪你去逛街了。
3）Urging，advising，reminding someone。
走了。
好了。
别说了。

哪里 哪里！其实我不是什么语法专家，我只是翻看以前小学读过的汉语语法，然后再翻成英语，让大家了解一下汉语语法。我不知道网上有没有汉语语法的讲解。
至于“ban 拉”意思同 “clever” 一样，是来自马来语的“pandai”

1) If a noun object appears after Verb + 了, Numeral-Measure word phrases or other attributives are often used before the object:
我吃了一条鱼。
我吃了妈妈买的鱼。
2）我吃了鱼。（is uncommon from grammar point of view ）but for verb predicate with a single word object，it usually follows the following patterns：
a）An adverbial adjunct is used either before the verb predicate or before the subject.
我已经吃了鱼。
昨天我吃了鱼。
b）must be followed by another verb or clause (expressing the idea that the second action takes place only after the completion of the first one):
我吃了鱼就看电视。
我吃了鱼就出去。
c) If the modal particle 了（语气助词）is used at the end of a sentence，the aspectual particle after the verb is often omitted. For the modal particle 了 also indicates the completion of the action.
我已经吃（了）鱼了。
我吃鱼了。
