October 11, 2015 at 7:12 PMIs the second "le" on the "...and now I'm going to work" an example of the 'change of state' le? That is, he wasn't going to work while he was dropping the kids off at school, but now that the dropping the kids off action has been completed, his state has changed and he's now on the way to work. That's how I always try to think of the difference between "completed action" le and "change of state" le.

September 13, 2015 at 6:04 AMYes, it would've been good to cover kaixing as well. I use gaoxing and kaixing totally interchangeably and have never been called out on it, but if a native speaker could let us know if there are any nuances in usage that would be much appreciated. Good lesson and i better understand xingfu now.

August 23, 2015 at 1:28 PMThanks Gwilym. I tried the download button but unfortunately it seems to be going at around 0.4kb per second, which is slow even by old telephone dial-up standards. I've heard that CT might intentionally be slowing the service to overseas servers to 'encourage' people to upgrade to their faster international package. Might just bite the bullet and upgrade. (It's not just Cpod that is slow - I have the same problem with all overseas websites that are not actually blocked).

August 23, 2015 at 1:10 PMI know this topic has been done to death at various points over the last 10 years of Chinesepod, but are any other Mainland-based users (I'm in SH) experiencing really really slow internet speeds the last couple of months? I can barely download audio-only lessons, let alone the videos. I have China Telecom wifi package at home. I was on a business trip to London and NY last week and it was so refreshing to be able to use the site as it should be used!

June 21, 2015 at 1:49 PMIs this "dā" really that commonly used? I've only ever heard "zuò" used for taking a taxi, bus, riding in a car, etc. Perhaps it's a Mainland vs Taiwan difference??

April 19, 2015 at 6:57 AMAre tūn and yàn totally interchangeable? Or is it more natural to use one or the other in certain situations? I noticed in one of the expansion sentences the concept of "swallowing one's words" for which yàn was used. Would such a phrase sound as natural using tūn?

October 11, 2015 at 7:48 PMIs it ok (not rude) to say "suibian" when Starbucks ask whether you want hot or cold milk added to your Americano? I've been saying this to the servers at the Starbucks in my office block for the last 6 years or so and now I'm worried that I might sound rude! From this lesson, I'm thinking I should actually be saying "dou keyi"?
