May 22, 2011 at 8:52 AMDon't think so, but it would make for a good QW. I too had the exact same question when I just did this lesson's Expansion sentences and was pleased to see someone else had questioned it in the comments.

May 22, 2011 at 8:49 AMHi CMF (hope you don't mind the abbreviating!). Your second point in your original post above is something I'm trying to practice more recently, i.e. the whole XX de YY structure with the XX describing the YY. It is very unnatural for native english speakers (well, at least it's very unnatural for me) since we usually say the YY first and then describe it, e.g. "a boy (YY) named Chris (XX)". I'm still at the stage when speaking Chinese that I first think of the English then translate it as I'm speaking. Because of this I will usually blurt out the YY first and then realise that I should have said the "XX de" before it......all good fun!

May 22, 2011 at 8:08 AMSimilar probs with Android's Market Place in China. I can access the free apps, but unable to access the paid apps. In particular, there is a paid version of the Hanping dictionary which I am keen to get my hands on. Fortunately, I've got trips to Sydney and London coming up so will be able to purchase it then. If anyone knows a workaround to this, based in China, do let me know!

May 21, 2011 at 5:47 AMThanks for introducing the word jièyì. Despite being a CP Intermediate, I've not come across this word before, which just goes to show the value of continuing to dip into the ele and newbie lessons for those nuggets of vocab.

May 16, 2011 at 1:13 AMHi Jane. On your "Dashboard" page, just click on your name in the top-right box of the page. This will take you through to your profile. Then on the left-hand side of your profile page, directly under your photo there is a link called "Notifications". Click it and then choose the email alerts you want.

May 15, 2011 at 1:19 PMThanks RJ. That's really interesting - I never realised the two countries were so close in terms of landmass. For some reason I always thought US was much bigger, including Alaska. I guess it's just how they look on standard Western-format atlases.

May 15, 2011 at 3:51 AMI've really noticed the whole "jiang" vs "zhe yang" issue a lot recently with the transcription work I've been doing. And when transcribing CP lessons there is the added complexity because sometimes it is actually "John" that is being said!

May 27, 2011 at 3:08 PMI had exactly the same thought! Particularly as I've just been learning 名牌!
