May 25, 2014 at 12:55 PMI think Expansion Sentence 2c should be the plural "all my favourite movies are stored on my computer" rather than the singular, as indicated by the presence of the 都 (dou1).

May 25, 2014 at 4:25 AMmeant to raise this a while ago - does anyone else have issues with the Chinese characters overlapping regularly in the lesson PDF? I've tried opening the PDF on various devices, so I don't think it's a hardware issue on my end. Would be good to get this fixed. Also, while i remember, it would be good if CPod could revert to the lesson PDFs that were only around 200kb. There was a point around 18months ago that they ballooned to around 1800kb (not sure why as the underlying content didnt change). Thanks, Chris.

March 30, 2014 at 3:51 AMGovernment has recently banned the use of these apps during rushhour in Shanghai - i think there was a bit of a backlash from the elderly and others without the necessary technology since the supply of cabs willing to take hail-down fares suddently dried up. I had a very frustrating experience the other night leaving the office - around 12 cabs all pulled up outside, but ignoring the queue of 20 people because others had already pre-booked via weixin (or whatever other app).
I don't seem to be able to find the didi app on the Play Store, but my colleagues using the Chinese version of Android don't seem to have that problem.

January 30, 2014 at 6:30 AMI think we're at a tipping point. I too have been in Shanghai for a reasonable length of time (over 7 years now) but the last 3 months have been the first time I have genuinely and seriously considered moving on. I don't want to return to the UK yet, but I have the opportunity to stay in the region in Singapore. No fewer than 5 expat friends/colleagues have left Beijing or Shanghai in the last few months - all of them citing pollution as THE deciding factor. Very sad indeed.

December 15, 2013 at 9:26 AM雾霾 makes it sound like some innocent weather condition, which it most certainly is not - particularly when the Air Quality Index pushed 600 last week in Shanghai. Is the term generally understood to mean "air pollution" rather than simply fog/haze? Or should one also say 空气污染 to make clear we are talking about man-made air pollution? (I appreciate there is a lot of politics here). From talking with a lot of people, both locals and expats, it would appear that the worsening air pollution problems will be the final straw that causes people to leave the country (3 friends have relocated to Singapore from BJ and SH in the past 3 months). I love living and working in China but the winter air this year has just been unbearable. It's a sad indictment that i now think of a sub-200 day as a "good" day!

July 19, 2013 at 3:05 AMLack of maintenance is the key issue for me. In our apartment complex in Shanghai all three treadmills have been broken now for over 6 months and despite the management company collecting significant management fees each month, there is no interest in repairing them or buying new ones, even with a significant and growing number of complaints from residents. I run outside a lot now (despite the humidity!) but am realising that it's probably time to join a proper gym rather than rely on the one at the apartment complex. There is a fantastic studio that recently opened in SH called Prime (full disclosure - by a friend of mine) that is going great guns at the moment. All brand new equipment, fantastic clean airconditioned environment and top quality trainers, guaranteed a full and thorough workout every time you go. Got a great writeup in smartshanghai recently as well.

May 25, 2014 at 1:16 PMExpansion sentence 4b, I think should be "I already entered your information into the computer", rather than ".....my information......"
