April 10, 2015 at 11:29 PMThanks for taking the time to explain Constance. I'd noticed that the p and b sound are sometimes different to the way I expected. I wasn't sure if it was an accent thing like Southern China people saying what sounds fo me like si for shi, or one of those 'dictionary says this but actually it ain't so' deals.

April 9, 2015 at 6:11 PMI think the point is that 叫我来能做什么 could be interpreted as 'What do you think I can do about it?'. The politician's claim is that what he meant was 'What specifically would be helpful to you? (and I'll do my best to make it happen).'
it his a hard lesson to understand first time round but I think that's partly because of the very formal style of television news in China. I found it really worth persisting with and figuring out. Please do keep the Advanced lessons coming. I think the recent content's been great.

April 2, 2015 at 8:36 AMI liked the lesson precisely because it was difficult to understand. Getting used to listening to informal dialogue is great practice. But you do need to take on board that point about the gender appropriateness. The character that says 人家 was obviously written as female. The political correctness at CP is occasionally obtrusive. Subverting gender stereotypes is well and good but giving that to a man to read just ends up sounding silly. I already worry about sounding girly from picking up what for me would be gender use of modal particles from listening to two female hosts' conversation so much.

February 20, 2015 at 8:28 PMYup I was beginning to wonder if too few of us made it to Advanced for it to be worth the investment in regular lessons. Really pleased to see so much new content, and I love the banter of the new hosts. Tough to keep up with but that's the point.

May 18, 2015 at 4:01 PMSo many mistakes in the App version of this that it's practically unusable, mainly huge chunks ofvocab missing. Also Supplementary vocab on the pdf says 音乐季 when I assume it should be音乐祭. One mistake like that is understandable but the App version is really shoddy. What's up? Din the proofreader get sunburn?
