January 23, 2013 at 2:53 PMI agree. Sometimes your translator forgets that not everyone speaks American English. Personally I was familiar with the term but in the section about 什么是'同妻'？the translation bears very little relation to what's actually said because it's following through the beard metaphor. In language learning my feeling is you probably need to be a bit more literal. Trying to translate a colloquial tone often creates more problems than it solves for the learner.

July 12, 2014 at 2:27 PMOne of the expansion sentences for this lesson (苹果公司将在今年9月发布新的手机.) seems to use the pattern 在 + time + V. I've also come across the form V + 在 + time + V. But I can't find anything in any of my books or anywhere on the web which explains the use of 在 in relation to time, as opposed to place. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
