July 4, 2018 at 12:12 AMI want to add my disappointment to the change of structure of ChinesePod. There are other excellent courses out there with a defined course structure. ChinesePod allowed exploration of many different topics and provided massive amounts of Chinese language input, specifically conversation-based. In this, I believe ChinesePod was unique. All that is needed is more of the same, plus easier searching of the database. Anyway, I'll follow for a while longer to see how this all pans out.

June 10, 2018 at 1:08 PMNo, I cannot see any corrections in the written dialogue yet, either. These errors are quite frustrating when trying to learn from the dialogue, which, to me, is the heart of the lesson.

June 9, 2018 at 10:35 PMHi Grace. It's great to have a new intermediate lesson. The topic is useful and the lesson is appropriate to the level. Two things, however, frustrate me.
Firstly, the spoken dialogue and the printed dialogue don't match. Some bits are omitted in the printed version. This confuses the conversation. As well, there is one unnecessary line added at the end. Would it be possible to re-work the written dialogue to match the spoken one?
Secondly, there is much too much English commentary in the lesson. I suggest that in future one speaker speak almost entirely in Chinese and let the other interpret as deemed necessary, to help smooth over any gaps in our understanding. Listening to a lot of unnecessary English is a frustrating diversion from the real purpose of the lessons. The reason we listen is to learn Chinese.

I think that I have heard; 今天(jīn tiān) 天气(tiān qì) 很(hěn) 好(hǎo). Could the grammar be correct in this version also? My guess is that the meaning would be; Today the weather is good. The meaning of the ‘的’ version would probably be; Today's weather is good. Not a significant difference, so either would work.
I hope this comment does not create confusion. Nothing is wrong with what Constance and Fiona are teaching us!

November 22, 2018 at 11:48 PMThanks for another intermediate lesson. I've been waiting for more of these. The text of the dialogue seems to me to be about right for this level, (although a little short) and the topic is useful. Now for some suggestions: 1. Get some actors who can speak the dialogue in a natural way at native-like speed. 2. Remove all English that does not relate directly to an explanation of the Chinese text, and keep the amount of English to an absolute minimum. We are here to learn Chinese! 3. Keep the length of the lesson down to 10 to 12 minutes or so. 4. Play the dialogue once with no text on the screen. A second time with 汉字 displayed (no pinyin) might be a good idea. We can use the dialogue tab for further study. This is an intermediate lesson, not a newbie lesson.
