May 11, 2010 at 7:03 AMJohn说,如果把形容词加“性”,那个形容词成为一个名词。但是,你们有一个例子"science"。"science"是一个名词,加“性"变成"scientific",一个形容词。
John said that if you take an adj and add "姓", the adj will transform into a noun. But, science is a noun and adding 姓 turns it into an adj.... help?!

April 8, 2010 at 5:37 AMHere's an English grammar question about the translation of the last sentence. Can you say"during univeristy"?
I never saw the word "university" used this way until I saw it in Chinsepod. In the US, I always heard and said "during college", "go to college", etc. instead of "during univeristy","go to university", etc. even though we went to a univeristy. If we used the word "university", it would most likely be this way: "my university","the university", etc.
"Going to college" is like "going to work" because it's more broad. You wouldn't say "I'm going to company today". You could say "I'm going to my company today".
I know that "colleges" and Universities are not the same (Universities are 4-year), but we still don't say "during university'
(sorry about posting English questions on Chinesepod, but since I'm an English teacher I wanted to ask!)

December 14, 2009 at 2:16 AMHey John, Connie and Liliana,
I'm not exactly sure where to post suggestions for the next QingWens. Is there a special place for that? I'm guessing that y'all just take questions in the comments section that you find from any of the lessons.
Anyways, I have a question about grammar that I would like to see on a QingWen. When I use the world "if" in English, I can use it flexibly for example "If I....." or "I don't know if...." but in Chinese I must be careful to use 如果 或者 是否 或者 是不是。。。Sometimes I get confused because I am sort of translating the English "if" and it doesn't always come out right. So, if anyone could give me some tips or make a new Qingwen about that question, that would be 非常好。
