In Shanghainese, one word for corny is 嗲 "dia". This word is becoming more popular in Mandarin.

April 18, 2010, 08:24 AMPlease do teach us some Shanghainese. Having a passing familiarity with dialects is part of being a fluent Chinese speaker. It doesn't detract from studying Mandarin, it makes your understanding richer! A lot of southern dialects have pronunciation and word usage that is closer to ancient Chinese.

英语有一个跟 ”换汤不换药“ 很相同的说法， 叫做 ”old wine in new bottles“， 意思一模一样!
