Posted on: When is Your Birthday?
February 24, 2012 at 1:40 PMThanks guys! I can kind of hear the difference, but reproducing that slight difference with my mouth seems impossible!

February 24, 2012 at 8:07 AMI realise both rì and rè are used in podcasts, they are both common words after all. Are they supposed to sound the same?

December 2, 2011 at 1:27 AMYes, for thoe most part, these browser mouseover tools are much more useful than relying on what people type for pinyin, especially since people some times don't type the tones, or don't spell it right.
If you have not tried one of these web browser tools, I highly recommend it. When you get to higher levels, it really helps with other things such as reading newspapers as well.

December 2, 2011 at 12:17 AMThanks for the clarification, much appreciated!
PS: I don't think anyone should expect you to be familiar with all the local variations of words. (:
Posted on: Where is the Supermarket?
December 1, 2011 at 9:29 AMI was taught that the word for supermarket is 超級市場 chao1 ji2 shi4 chang3, can this word and the word from the dialogue 超市 be used interchangably in both China, Taiwan and elsewhere?
I realise chinesepod is based in Shanghai, but information about regional variations is useful for those of us not living in china (:
