November 26, 2007 at 4:55 PMThe Fix came over on my feed with no Chinese translations of the vocab. Also Dave's voice in the transition to sentences is MUCH MUCH louder than the audio overall.

November 24, 2007 at 12:49 AMTotally inspiring and equally demoralizing. How in the world can flashcards help with speaking though? I feel that I'm learning two languages at once... the written language and the spoken language. Of course one reinforces the other in terms of vocab and grammar, but speaking seems to only happen for me from practice with native chinese speakers in real-life conversation.

November 23, 2007 at 8:41 PMP.S. The Fix could be used for some of what I mentioned above as well. Maybe present the listener with a basic structure then offer a verb or noun and pause a few seconds while allowing us to formulate the answer in our own minds before giving it away. I think this kind of drill is almost essential to make the leap from Elementary to Intermediate learner.

November 23, 2007 at 8:40 PMI'm with Sebire in terms of needing an expansion on the construction of the 是和家人在一起 sentence. Can we get more examples of this? CPOD excels at giving tons of hi-frequency and daily-life vocab, but might need some way to reinforce sentence structure and grammar. The podcast is a great place for this, as I can study the PDF for reviewing vocab and characters.
