我很喜欢喝拿铁咖啡!

I make my own 咖啡. I got a coffee maker off of Taobao (way cheaper than the stores) and I buy coffee grinds from a small coffee shop right next to my apartment! I have always had 绿茶 at home as well so I'm doing just fine.

Starbucks is gross and expensive and they add even MORE sugar in Chinese Starbucks than back in the U.S. I didn't think that was possible...

I think you forgot the best one, "小笼包" (xiao long bao) or (not a direct translation) "Shagnahi steamed bun"

chas33735,

Cucumbers are a very popular snack in the shower and sauna rooms for some reason, probably because they have so much water in them and you tend to get dehydrated in the sauna or shower rooms, I've seen a lot of people take those with them and the chinese like to wash everything before they eat it so...

changye,

I totally agree with you (Chinese history is one of my favorite subjects!)

The scary thing was she was actually not joking, I wish she was, eh... (I dont think she knows much history also.) I have found some Chinese really have negative views of the Japanese and when I have asked about it most of the time they bring up what happened in Nanjing... and that Japan wont acknowledge it. That seems to be the only real thing I have found as to why...

After that it was something the whole class laughed about, it became a hallway joke "They stole our language!" and would tease the students studying Japanese. Everyone thought it was funny.

For the most part Chinese get very excited when anyone is learning anything about their culture and language/writing system.

Amber, this has definitely been one of the best shows! characters and history!

When I was learning Chinese in a class we learned the traditional characters, we had to memorize about 30 a night and be able to read and write them the next morning... I was in an immersion program. I asked my teacher why we were studying the traditional characters and she told me it was because once you can read the traditional it is much easier to learn the simplified characters. I don't know if thats true but I do seem to be able to learn the simplified faster now. (If anyone brought up Japanese characters my teacher always used to say "They stole our language!" She was originally from Shanghai.)

I think we need to get back to those old Taoist texts, boys... Thanks a lot Confucius... lol. I actually heard of that museum years ago when I was in the U.S and never thought I'd be living in China. I always wanted to go see it.

My dad is Taoist, I wonder if he knows anything about this. He always claims to have been Taoist for over 40 years.
