I Think all the different versions of English are really important for learners of English to be able to hear and understand.

One friend of mine grew up in Malaysia. At her high school they taught class in English, however when she got to the U.S her spoken English was very hard to understand because she had only heard the Malaysian way of pronouncing the words, (which is also mixed with a little Malay). Most of the time I could better understand her when she spoke Chinese with me (we were both learning) :P

This is great! I love how you have people from all kinds of different accents! I think that's so important because English has become such a world language. It will be great for people to be able to hear more than one "kind" of English as opposed to learning "American-English" or "English-English" as the "correct" example.

My Chinese boyfriend has seen me using Chinesepod and has really been hoping for an Englishpod!

First off, whhhhhhhy??? did you post that picture, I'm going to have bad dreams now.... lol

And second, the word is actually 哎呦 (ai1you1.) 

How I learned "哎呦", my Chinese teacher thought it was hilarious when I said "哎呦!" on the first day of class when I was annoyed because of dropping my pencil for the fourth time. I've been unknowingly speaking Mandarin since I was a small child apparently...

I have to say I totally agree that is a problem but I think the idea that anything we do on the web is "private" is a very old concept. There are a million different ways to figure out what people are doing and buying and even being able to get at very personal information.

At least google offers something in return, and something pretty good at that. That still makes me think twice though...

What does "羊毛出在羊身上" mean? I never heard that before

So far this is the best pinyin input software that I have found, its from google, http://www.google.com/ime/pinyin/

The best thing is its free, gotta love google!

Finally we'll be able to start taking steps forward again, instead of the huge steps back as with Bush.

A good way to get around that is to put only the DVDs in some kind of CD carrying case, the most obvious part of the fake is the DVD box so if you only have the DVD you can tell them you brought them from home, they cant do much.
