I hate to complain because I think that Chinesepod is otherwise really great, but some problems just don't seem to get fixed. These chipmunks are still haunting this lesson, for months now, by the look of it. 龙飞

...and the recordings for the dialog, vocabulary and expansion still don't seem to work. Can someone fix these please?

Guys, Why are the English translations missing in the Expansion area? 龙飞

Good question, Gordon. I guess the first few characters are 我想有一点 but i don't know which gao3 it can be that would make sense with the context (using Jenny instead of her Chinese name). Maybe someone else can solve this mystery.

At 0:22 in the lesson, is Jenny saying the Shanghainese word for "dui ba"?

I can relate to JohnT's surprise at finding out that Chinese is much more difficult than Spanish. I learned Spanish and German fluently as a kid and Romanian when I was in my 30's so I was very confident that I could learn Mandarin with only marginally more effort. Boy, was I surprised! I'm now in my mid-40's and Chinese has been both so much more difficult and so much more satisfying than i initially thought it would be. I have often wondered if the reason for the difficulty is because of my age or the enormous difference in difficulty. I'm still not so sure I know the answer to this.

Could someone help me understand this: What is the difference between: 我怎么才能跟他联系呢 and 我怎么能跟他联系呢 and is the latter even a correct sentance?

Yes, I loved Jenny's special effects too.

I just had to weigh in on suggesting another YouTube link to the Kung Fu song. This one has better sound quality (the lip sync quality notwithstanding) and includes a 喜 character on this one guy's back. Ignore the adoring look from the audience if you can! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccp6Is7sFHY&mode=related&search=

The chipmunk voices on the dialogue still have to be fixed.
