"Just a big change" you can also say :变化很大。There should be a modifier before an adj., even if it means nothing. It's a rule in Chinese.

That should be: 我今年才开始学。There is 才 in your sentence, so no need “了”。

Here 单子 means "contract", but 单子 can not be used for "employment contract".
