我觉得这个课程不难听的懂,喜欢这种模式,而且希望不会替代高级和媒体课程。

我刚瘦了二十英镑,因为医生说我的血脂超标了,所以现在我的裤子不算瘦腿的。

Shanghaichanges, for really big numbers, start comparing infinities. Two infinite sets are considered equal in size, if you can prove there is a 1 to 1 and onto mapping between them. By this reasoning, real numbers are most likely a bigger infinity than integers. In any case, once you have an infinity, you can always make a bigger infinity by constructing the set of all subsets of the infinity you have (the power set). Repeating this operation on the newly constructed infinity, you can produce an infinite number of infinities each larger than the one that proceeded it. There are other operations you can perform to produce infinities that are larger than anything that can be constructed by power set. Anyway, no reason to constrain your imagination with a mere googleplex. ...not sure how I'd express the above in Chinese.

Bajillion is in my vocabulary. It has to do with all magnitudes over 100,000 end in "illion". Basically, the number has exceeded what we comprehend. It would be interesting to know expressions in Chinese for expressing this idea.

I think a near equivalent to 小三 in English would be "home wrecker".

Not to mention the recent "Important Things in China by Jenny Zhu". I guess the new rights of only children to have a second child is big news indeed and is gradually working its way down to showing up in a Newbie lesson. "Hi, is that your second baby?", or some such.

I gather Shanelle is a new host.  Can we have an introduction?  Where is she from?  What is her background in Chinese?

The expansion sentences in this lesson are very difficult compared with the historical difficulty of expansion sentences for advanced lessons.  I don't mind a challenge, but if I am struggling with the overall meaning of a sentence, it doesn't really facilitate my assimilation of a new vocabulary word.  Specifically,  a sentence like:

商业竞争耍花招诚实容易只是到头来聪明聪明搬起石头自己的不在少数

introduces several concepts (economic competition, honest versus dishonest behavior, self-deception, a metaphore for self harm, and frequency of occurance).  It is difficult to pick the new vocabulary word, 到头来, out of all that, let alone quickly figure out which of these concepts it is operating on.  I did figure it out, eventually, but I'm used to being able to understand expansion sentences after listening a couple times, without having to read them carefully, and consider their structure for a while.

I think CPod could come up with an easier sentence to illustrate the usage of 到头来, that would be entertaining, and wouldn't be beneath the dignity of an advanced learner.
