我完全反对Dave写的话。

A history lesson will probably never sound as casually entertaining as lover's spat, being abducted by aliens, or beauty pagent participants cat-fighting.  However, both the topic and the specialized vocabulary are fascinating to me.  (more input please).

I think even a straight lecture on 孙中山 would be fine with me, without the banter from the three stooges.  However, I still think the "Saved by the Gong" series is an excellent vehicle for introducing more diverse topics.  I didn't go through the Chinese school system, but much of what I know how to talk about in English is from topics covered when I was a student.  It seems like this series is an excellent chance to catch up with how to discuss topics that an educated person in China would know how to discuss; things you would need to know to read a newspaper, etc.

I don't require drama and interpersonal conflict with every lesson.  Rather, I want to be able to discuss any topic that I could discuss in English (not just soap operas) and I want to have the same topical knowledge that any educated Chinese person would have.

I am very fond of this series, because it covers a variety of subjects that don't come up in the usually more socially orriented dialogs.  Keep it up!

很有趣的課程.  终于一个我喜欢的运动.

BTW, The CPOD family photo on the new home page is cute.

When I copy-paste dialogs from the dialog tab, the link to the sound shows up in the paste  太麻烦了!

Question: Where is a standard accent spoken? It is a bit hard to believe 北京. Small grumble: I'm feeling input deprived this week. Sun-Sun there was no UI lesson, and this lesson feels like its not quite a CPOD lesson. That said, I like having material on accents alot. So, I'm conflicted.

Did anyone else notice that the pinyin in the lesson pdf doesn't match either the 汉字, nor the spoken dialog for several sentences? (I don't care that much, becuase I don't usually read the pinyin. Maybe, no one else cares either。)

直到了一些中国人亲戚的关系是很有趣的课程,可是这次看来新生词不多。

I lived on a farm when I was young. Chicago was the first big city I ever saw. I was about 9 at the time, and was really amazed. Now, it doesn't seem that big. It seems like many Chicagos would fit in Shanghai, for example.
