Posted on: 简体字与繁体字
February 25, 2008 at 1:16 AMI chose to focus on 简体字 by accident; that was what my first text used, also what CPOD uses. I've since learned to recognize a number of 繁体字, but it really cuts down my reading ability. The local Chinese papers (SF Bay Area) use 繁体字. I think I could almost read them now, except for that. Anyway, very interesting lesson. I'd like to hear more about the older writing forms in a future lesson.

February 18, 2008 at 12:36 AM我认为学习收获对关于中国情况的课程比橄榄球的课程丰富很多。 谢谢你们CPOD人。

February 11, 2008 at 6:59 AMChangye, I've chucked a mail into a US post office box addressed only to, "IRS". It did get were it was supposed to. It seems the lady in the dialog was a little vague about size and weight. She probably has a grand piano packed in this box of hers. Seriously, I'm a little curious about this part of the negotiation. If anyone cares to elaborate on how size and weight restrictions are negotiated, I'm interested.

February 7, 2008 at 3:04 AMI liked this series on tones. The English examples are especially helpful. ( I should know tones by now, but I'm afraid I'm still developing an ear for them.)

February 5, 2008 at 5:13 AM我三次到东京出差。 第一次我还没学习中文,所以日本字看起来很奇怪,我感觉完全不舒服。 第二次我能找到男厕所和出口,因此感觉舒服一点。第三次我习惯在中国我能 沟通,所以我又感觉不舒服。

February 2, 2008 at 1:41 AMOh, the relationship between sushi and Starbuck's is that they are both stables for us Volvo driving intelectual elites who aren't welcome in red states. (Not that I have a Volvo, but...)

February 2, 2008 at 1:36 AMI like this lesson. 很好吃。 Question: are the same names for Japanese food used in Taiwan? (For some reason most of the "Japanese" restuarants in my area are run by Taiwanese. I can tell because, it ain't Japanese that they speak in the kitchen. :=) Request: Could we have a lesson on 星巴克? (I was stymied when I wanted to order an extra shot for my drink, and my choices were limited to what 丽丽和张亮 had ordered. Ok, I suppose I could read the price list for some more choices, but... ) Anyways, 多谢你们给我们有趣的课程。

March 1, 2008 at 3:31 AMCool lesson topic, but I could do without the class clown. A serious discusion of Chinese history would be interesting enough. The added humor makes it harder to catch what I really want to know.
