I haven't studied the use of 了 for the future, or found a reference to it yet. I've seen it a few times and it seems to be a hypothetical usage. Can it be used for hypothetical changes of state as well as actual ones that have recently occurred?
Is there a good explanation or podcast on this use of this 了 somewhere?

- Would this sentence also be acceptable to add a 'change of state' 了 at the end, to show the fire drill has just finished? Or does the 結束 do that all by itself?
