April 9, 2009 at 1:33 PM@nanjingboy Being somewhat of a grass roots epicurean, I'll certainly be linking to plenty of #foodporn in the discussions, and although we are trying to keep the content fairly accessible to the majority of our viewers, I and other poddies will surely be flooding the discussion with eating tips.

April 9, 2009 at 1:27 PM@mikeinewshot I could either reply by saying that the script writer for this particular lesson isn't musically inclined, please forgive the oversight, OR, that you uncovered a major clue to a secret puzzle and that the mistake was intentional. I personally think the second option is way more mysterious and cool. Seriously though, thanks for pointing that out Mike. :-)

Indie' or 'Independant' artist/band.

April 8, 2009 at 1:36 PM@patguo Squatters are actually considered to be more hygenic than western 'toilet seat' toilets. I know that there are disposable seat covers that one can apply to toilet seats, but what if the person before you didn't lift the seat before they pee'd? With a squatter your skin/cheek (lol) doesn't come into contact with anything that countless others' skin/cheeks have had direct contact with countless times before you.
China is great, it just takes some people a little more adjustment than others. But it's well worth the jouney.

@pchenery I appreciate your witty suggestions.
Hypothetically, if we could write stuff of Lu Xun's calibre, it would have to be so subtle that only the most perceptive would grasp the hidden meaning behind the euphemisms, and their comments would be so cryptic ... Suffice to say that if such tales were told, nothing would be mentioned about their nature and thus the effort and message would almost be for naught.
As Pete said, it's probably easier to consult the myriad of resources available to you elsewhere. Or you could use the linguistic skills that you've honed here and do some digging in the primary and secondary Chinese language sources available to you. :-)
