I sort of fit right in to this lesson. Not bad after a year. A question came to mind while using the expanision section.

What is the opposite of "mistake" I am puzzled with my own native (English) language. I do not know how to say the opposite without using a negative.  example- I didn't make a mistake .

I found myself thinking about this reviewing the expanision section

(trad.) 錯     (simp) 错  cuò;

in the expanision you used as opposite

(trad.) 對     (simp) 对  duì

I understand but I usually think of  對 as correct. And "uncorrect" means wrong answer maybe not necessary wrong action.

 Also how would you say . " Can you correct this mistake"

Laodie

  I was thinking the same. Maybe Amber can clarify. Is can = 能 néng  and may = 可以 kěyǐ  correct when we think in terms of English.

Nice to be back after one year. Amazing how much has not been lost in my brain.

Jenny

  I am living in Tokyo. I have been using Japanesepod101.com which is very nice. But my heart is with the Chinese Language so I will be back shortly. This will of course drive everyone crazy in Tokyo as I respond to them in Chinese.

  I do find I over hear some interesting conversations by Chinese people on the Tokyo subways.

  Jenny its so kind of you to permit Ken to speak occasionally.

Amber, There shouldbe a simple way right on this page to send a "Dear Amber" suggestion or question. Since there is not and most of the listerners are not expats (I am 2 yrs. Taiwan and now Japan) can you share with us what do you find most fun to do on weekends. I can tell you for me even food shopping as an expat is a real treat.

Bazza Like me I think you are a geek kind of guy. So verbal communication is not your strong point but visual and writing communication I guess are your strong points. So how did you find walking around China in terms of understanding all the signs and stuff ? Keep in mind how you respond compared to many of your friends back home who would find any of the Chinese Characters complete noise. My point to you and many others is this is a long road for most of us and unless you can compare all the way back to the first days of learning Chinese you might find it tough going. I am starting all over with Japanese now while keeping up with Chinese. Everyday it is much easier to go to Chinesepod than Japanesepod where much of it is still noise and I am back to being a real newbie and no Jenny to hold my hand!
