Posted on: Where Is The 在 At?
January 16, 2014 at 1:06 PMIt all depends on whether which level the learner is at. For beginners (like me), actually I tend to agree with Vera's approach - inserting some English words between Chinese words makes it easier for me to learn Chinese.
I have tried listening to the advanced Chinesepod lesson where almost everyword is Chinese, and I struggle to catch up with the lesson. NK Chew.

December 19, 2013 at 3:10 PMThanks a lot Helen, I appreciate your reply. Actually I have learnt a lot from the Qingwen lessons since I started subscribing to Chinesepod three years ago. I have to say that Chinesepod team has done a very good job. The Qingwen lessons are superb. Nk Chew.

December 18, 2013 at 1:54 PMCan I know which one is more commonly used fo "beheading" - 砍头 or 斩首? Among Chinese who speak Cantonese in Malaysia, 斩头 is what I frequently hear during daily conversation. Thanks. NK Chew, Malaysia.

December 7, 2013 at 12:45 PMThanks a lot Tom and Connie!! Now I understand the differences between these "praise" words. Actually the differences are not really big - thus, for beginners like me, I initially struggled to understand these words. But... after your Qingwen lesson, everything is clear for me now. I have to 表扬 Chinesepod Team for their excellent work in teaching Mandarin. NK Chew, Malaysia.

April 26, 2014 at 7:41 AMDear Tom and Vera
Thanks for this very useful lesson. It is a very well recorded lesson. Prior to this I never knew that ma3 shang4 and li4ke4 had a difference in meaning. But there is another word that I often hear native Chinese speaker use - 赶紧.
I'd appreciate if you can tell me the difference between 赶快 and 赶紧?
Thanks.
NK Chew.
