hughborg707, do you work for VMware?  :) hahahahahahaha!

too bad we don't know how to say "VMware" in Chinese anyway.  Or HP, CA, IBM, Symantec, BMC, Accenture, Cap Gemini, etc.....

sailorboy, yes, just listen to all the dialogues constantly.  You'll also start better avoiding pronunciation mistakes.

I think I know 5 characters in this letter.  But one of them looks like Peng! First time i've actually seen Peng used in anything....

Thanks lily_counselor.  I guess this is one of the exceptions to the rule that is going to take me awhile to understand.

prishishi09, is this your first time posting also? I'm not the welcoming committee by the way.

matt_c, somehow, the people who are most skilled with Chinese don't seem to need mere taxi driver dialogue!

But I guess it wouldn't do for cpod to have dialogues like, "when your manservant Jeeves, forgets to bring your laundry in from 5 star cleaners, how do you admonish him?"

Best of luck to you!

Interesting. I didn't know that you could rent a car you could drive in China, ala Hertz/Avis/Dollar and so on.  I knew that you could hire a car and driver to get you anywhere out of the way.

I get the impression that getting the license is the easy part.  The hard part seems to me that as a foreigner, I have different assumptions about how other drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, etc. are going to behave when I encounter them.

John, I also drink Carlsberg way more than I ever did in the US.
