November 9, 2009 at 5:35 AMwelhome, i'm curious. Did you get a driver license in Beijing because you plan on buying a car in Beijing?

November 9, 2009 at 4:27 AMrossjackson, yes, you pay the airport fee into and out of Beijing airport. This is similiar to what you get stuck with out of New York airports when you cross one of the many bridges into Manhattan from LaGuardia or JFK.
And by the way, many, but not all of the international flights out of Beijing are out of

November 6, 2009 at 4:18 PMMiantiao, bail is just one of the many questions I have. Along with wether the prisoner/accussed is appointed/given an attorney/lawyer if he can't afford/retain one on his/her own. It was all I could do to not refer to this American/United States TV/boob tube drama as Americans see them, like Ally McBeal/LA Law, Perry Mason/Judd for the Defense, The Practice/Boston Legal, ad nauseum....
And by the way cpod, good on you for having this type of topic.
Now we need something like Crime Scene Investigation. I didn't check, but I don't think we know dialogue like ... well, never mind. But you get the point.

November 6, 2009 at 2:38 AMI'm curious if the dialog represents how a trial is conducted in China? The dialog here looks like the transcript from a typical American tv drama courtroom case. But on Chinese Television, you don't usually see the trials at any stage, other than at the end, when the prisoner/accused is standing up for some reason, and looking pretty subdued.

November 5, 2009 at 5:24 AMSo shouldn't the sentence,"chūzūchē zhēn nán dǎ" really be, "chūzūche dǎ qílái zhēn nán"? I thought Jenny and John in the Dry cleaner or Interviewing an Ayi lesson were very hyper about this. Doesn't ,"chūzūchē zhēn nán dǎ" mean "the taxi was hard to ride"?

November 5, 2009 at 5:07 AMThanks Shenyajina. That "Nàge zhuàng wǒ de rén gěi .... " sentence pattern is giving me fits!

November 5, 2009 at 2:29 AMThis is good.
I was hoping that a medicine lesson would have dialogue along the lines of "i've got a broken leg, a sprained ankle, a lacerated kidney, and various scrapes and bruises. The guy who hit me was texting his girlfriend, according to the police".
Is the way you say that, "wo3 tui4 hui4 le, jiao3 huai2 niu3 shang1 le, shen4 chuang1 le, you3 dian4 ca1 shang1, shang1 hen2. ju4 jing3 cha2, nan2 ren2 zhuang4 wo3 fa1 duan3xin4 ta1 de nu3 peng3you2". ?
