Is the translation for 可 kè, short for 可是 kèshī in the sentence 可我才骑了五分钟。。。, "but"? In the dialogue, its' translated as "that's not such a big deal".

I always thought it was funny to go to Beijing, and you could safely assume that you had 24-hour hot water.  You didn't even have to ask.  Then we'd go to the village, and get water from 6-10am, and 6-10pm.

I think I was in the 7th grade. The normal social studies teacher was out sick or something. I don't know how my school district gets substitute teachers, but we ended up with a teacher who seemed to be in his 50s. I vaguelly recall the substitute saying that our regular teacher didn't leave him with a teaching plan for today, so he wasn't sure what to teach. Not quite sure how we got on the topic of hypnosis, but he mentioned that he could do it. I think us students were interested in seeming him demonstrate what he could do.

He asked for a couple of volunteers in the class. I volunteered, along with another kid. I remember the whole thing, and i'll give the abbreviated version now. He went through the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 thing, and asked me to stick out my hand. It didn't hurt, He didn't make me act like an idiot, and I was fine afterward. I found out from other kids afterward that the teacher put a lit match under my hand, and I didn't feel a thing.

hehe, the last time I was this flexible, I was 4 months old ;-) I don't bend, I lean if my form is right.

You may be right, or at least the trend is pointing in that direction. The last race I ran in was about 2 years ago, and I thought I saw a few people doing static stretching. I didn't see a lot of people engaging in dynamic stretching, although what I tend to do myself might be considered dynamic stretching, if I weren't so lazy and inconsistent about it.

when you mouse over the 根 (gen1) in the dialogue sentence 而且一根冒烟的针插到肉里 on the fourth line, you don't get a translation.  It would be helpful for cpod to put in the dialogue that this is a bound form with some other word.  thanks.

I love this study.  Pass on the stretching.
