'zhè' means 'this'. The 'ge' is a 'measure word' or 'classifier'. Do you need an explanation of measure words?

My understanding is that 'na' can be used at all times, while 'nei' can only be used before a classifier.

ie. You can use 'na ge pingguo' or 'nei ge pingguo'; 'na jian yifu' or 'nei jian yifu'

But you cannot say 'Nei shi wode yifu' - only 'Na shi wode yifu'.

I think the logic is that 'nei ge' is an oral contraction of 'na yi ge'.

The same logic applies to 'Zhe / Zhei'.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

In the expansion sentence

他是你的前男友吗？ Tā shì nĭde qián nán yŏu ma? Is he your ex-boyfriend?

can we really leave out the 朋 (péng) in 朋友 (péngyŏu), or is this an error. If we can leave it out, then under what circumstances?

In the expansion sentence:

我们下次去海南玩怎么样？ Wŏmen xiàcì qù Hăinán wán zĕnmeyàng? How about we go to Hainan next time?

I don't understand the 玩 (wán).

Are the going to Hainan to play??
