老師們,poddies,

我想問你們一下,這個句子裡: 「你答應我要陪我進產房
的」可不可以把「是」加在「你」後面? 因為我們常常學習「你是。。。的」的語法.

謝謝!

抱歉我的繁體字...

Janfusun Fancyworld (劍湖山世界) in Taiwan is another 游樂園...

I took this photo of their ominous-looking 摩天輪...

...I don't think it was running that day due to the weather, and if it was I might have been too much of a 膽小鬼 to ride.

Is 建築 / 建築物 one of those words that has different tones in the south / Taiwan?

yahoo.com.tw's dictionary has jiànzhú instead of jiànzhù.

帆船: fánchuán ; 質地: zhídì, to list just a couple, also seem to have different tones in the south & in Taiwan. Or maybe just Taiwan?

而且我用bopomofo輸入法打"建築"的漢字的時候,如果我打兩個字都第四聲就打不出來.要打第四和第二聲.

I, too, have to laugh when I hear "Oh...I think Chinese is very difficult for you." Do they teach Chinese students this phrase in school? I've heard it before too. I realize it's not intended as an insult but I'm always kind of shocked when I hear it in the middle of a friendly dialogue. I'm impressed by the writers' especially keen insight into a foreigner's perspective and great sense of humor.

Also, what happened to the "Share" link on the left hand side of this page? I used to use it to post my favorite lessons to facebook

And i have an even firmer belief that flash cards fortune cookies is a great idea. But I seem to be alone in my thinking on both accounts.

Jenny-

You are not alone! Most fortune cookies have a "Learn Chinese" section on the back of the fortune. Of course the problem is that your average American Chinese takeout customer won't have a clue how to pronounce the word they just learned, even if it is spelled in Hanyu Pinyin and not Wade-Giles or some pinyin variant.

Hi everyone, I'm an avid listener, but usually just lurk around the lesson discussions ...this is my first post and I just wanted to say that I really love ChinesePod. You guys rock. My Taiwanese girlfriend heard this podcast and was confused, saying "fan1 chuan2" means to overturn a boat, and that the correct pronunciation is "fan2 chuan2". We got a good laugh over the idea of a boat overturning competition. I looked up 帆船 in cedict and the yahoo.com.tw 字典 and sure enough I got "fan2 chuan2" in both cases. I've come across many differences in spoken mandarin in Taiwan versus at ChinesePod but I'm really curious about this one. Thanks
