October 12, 2008 at 8:02 PMOoh, just discovered this. I agree, a transcript is handy. There are bits that I didn't catch even after three times.

October 12, 2008 at 6:57 PMThat was an interesting QW. Numbers are good, though that counting system hurts my head too.
Now this has only got me thinking. What about negative numbers? Imaginary numbers? All the other numbers?
负五 = -5, right?

October 12, 2008 at 6:44 PMHas anyone found that the flash player plays the podcast at three different lengths? On my feed, it's 5 mins, on this page it's 48 seconds, and on the popout it's over 9 minutes. Odd.

October 6, 2008 at 5:42 PMAh yes, but my problem before was getting mixed up with "in front" and "behind" as well as time. It's just natural for me to think that my future is in front of me. Less of a problem now though, I think I have got used to it.

October 6, 2008 at 10:22 AMlijunziyue, that time concept always hurt my head (in terms of getting 前 and 后 mixed up), but I agree, it is easiest to think of it as travelling through time backwards: you can see the past, so it must be in front of you, whereas you can never know the future, so it must be behind you.
Does anyone get confused by 把? Or is it just me?

October 15, 2008 at 9:38 AMRJ, I read a book once that pointed out the English say "thank you" about four times when buying something in a shop. And it's true!
