December 3, 2007 at 11:56 PMYeah, don't be so hard on Yang Jie. I'm of the opinion that if a guy offers to buy you a drink, help you with work etc, you are under no obligation to go out with them. Unless of course Yang Jie pestered Wang Wei to help her, in which case, that's just using. But if Wang Wei was so smart, then he wouldn't let her use him, so she's only teaching him a lesson in life...

December 2, 2007 at 11:48 PMWoodstock, I was unsure whether the vocab 豆浆 included both sweet and unsweetened or not, but I suppose it must refer to both. My mum knows how to make it, and it's far better than the stuff you can get from the packet! Don't you just boil it up a bit and then mash it through a load of muslin? She hasn't made it in ages and I don't think I was paying much attention last time.

December 2, 2007 at 4:50 PMCrazykitty, yes it is. I really like that soft tofu stuff in sugary syrup. I think that's 豆花. Does anyone know if the 豆浆 is sweet or not? Or watered down? Cos I don't like it when it's watered down.

November 23, 2007 at 6:37 PMI'm a bit confused about this "是和家人在一起" (shi4 he2 jia1ren2 zai4 yi1 qi3) - because I think of 和 has "and", and had been told once that it linked nouns together, I don't quite understand its function here. Is it just the case that "和家人在一起" is just one of those phrases that simply means "together with the family" and you just have to accept it?
