Good Lesson and a great reminder.

There are a few stores in the states that charge for the bags.  Some stores (Aldi comes to mind) do have bags.

Last summer I was in Trust-Mart and they charged for bags.  As a tourist I'm likely to pay it, but I don't think we will see a dent in the bag usage until the price is higher. I will likely keep a reusable bag with me on my next trip.

Here it seems that a few trips to the market can leave one with a pile of bags.

Re: Bottles

I agree with Ken, I rarely buy bottled water.  In some states we have deposits on the bottles or cans, but again if it is too cheap people will just pay and continue to use.  It takes a deliberate effort.  We are often driven by convenience and industry has optimized around this.  So right now doing things or operating in a more environmentally friendly way is likely to cost more.  If green sells, green will get cheaper.  It's a choice.

Personally -- I'd say driving in Germany is tops.  People generally follow the rules and you can wind out the gears on the Autobahn.

It seems to ba a miracle that more pedestrians aren't injured in China.  I've even see cars driving on the sidewalks.  The problem is that the lights seem to be little more than decoration in some places and the lane lines are ignored too.

I really liked the lesson.  Great job!!

@jake82: Connie is the shorter (but mighty) of the two.

Dunno JP -- you might try to be more nice to Connie--to avert the wrath :-) .

I think the format is really good.  I was able to catch a lot of the meanings, now to remember.

Thanks!

I had a similar problem--mine cut out with a few minutes to go.  Or my PC has finally succumb to being a 老电脑。

I would like to see more sentence pattern lessons.  Or perhaps a series either as part of Qing Wen or separate.

Inland,

Check out Dear Amber (http://chinesepod.com/lessons/gifts-chinese-people-like-and-chinatomy-premiere) to see the names for various officers.

I really liked this lesson.   And it sounds like Amber and JP may have found a new BSR.

好极了!  Great sound work as well.

How do you say hardware store?  Like, "Where is the hardware store?"

When I saw this lesson introduces in the email one question came to mind:

你在跟我说话?

I can imagine and incredulous taxi driver peering back at me in the mirror. "You talking to me?"

Are we going to have and ele or intermediate lesson on how to renegotiate the price when taken to the wrong place?
