Hi Pete

I was just walking along the Waitan, saw a ferry and went on board. To my surprise nobody told me to get off, so I crossed to the other side and took my walk with no idea of what the area would look just 30 years later. Kind of hard to imagine then.

Hi Changye

I think your argument holds thrue, and also covers the "confusing" example. The comparison lies i A 比 B 相比 and 比较 expresses degree and I think it could be substituted by f.ex. 最 . There might be border cases, but understanding 比较 as you explained has been a great help.

I prefer the chadui hassle to the recent past, when you as a foreigner always would be rushed in front of all the people waiting - very embarrassing.

Actually most people paidui - otherwise there would be no line to jump.

In the subway at rush hours just join in the fun.

I really enjoy the storytelling videos. Might be a good idea to label them with levels.

Still remember walking through the fields and villages of Pudong in the mid seventies - some change

In the beginning the mike is feeding - does anyone know how to say that in Chinese?

How would one say: "The acoustics of this room/venue is very bad"?

Hi Pete

Have listened to the expansion sentence 10 times - and I can only hear "cong hai mei daguo wo". hai and lai are close, but not that close. I also think I've heard or seen the expression "cong hai mei" before, where "conglai" becomes shortned to "cong"

I've also been corrected for using "nali nali" after being praised. It is old fashioned, but I also got the feeling, that you can only use it if your skill actually is very good (mine wasn't :-)

Any truth in this?

The new layout works fine with me. I find it very easy to navigate.
