changye Bingo, you hit the nail on the head. We need both. If it were all zhou or zuo.... But my teacher was adamant to use zuo. But you can't use zuo on Mondays and Tuesdays!! Except on leap years and then only if you live in the South.

Man2Toe I didn't see your posts on the Japanese subject either. So I guess we pick & choose what we find interesting.

Man2Toe I didn't have time to listen to the mp3 yet or even download the pdf file. I'll just pass on this one. Somebody profoundly stated that it was too long.

I have to say thanks to Ken and Eileen for trying to rectify the problem I had with the dialog only mp3. I never use RSS feed however. I'll discuss this with Auntie privately. I still don't know why it still isn't available on this web page where it used to be. In my real life I automate things so that things become easier to do. It seems the more I like to make things simpler, there are people trying their hardest to make things harder!!!! I won't belabor the point here any further.

because of deprecation, i started to look for alternates. Signing up for Vietnamese classes is a direct result of deprecation. deprecation encouraged somebody to point me in the direction of other alternates as well! Never underestimate deprecation!!

John I know you offer mp3 files with the premium plan. you mentioned that earlier. I started out with the basic plan that had the dialog only file but suddenly that became unavailable. I certainly don't intend to pay for the premium plan. just to get the dialog only file.

It's just like when I tried Pimsleur, In my opinion the most useless of them all. You soon realize there is no more to get from it, so you move on. Vocabulearn is still my all time favorite which I periodically still listen to. cpod certainly has the potential, but when they removed the short version of mp3. then it became useless for me. There is no way I'm going to listen to the full versions for the reasons I've fully explained many times!!!

xiaohu Chinese & Japanese in my view are complementary. They are different enough to be able to keep separate in your mind, yet just knowing the chinese characters was extremely helpful in Japanese. The only reason I even subscribed here was because of it's simplicity and it fit perfectly to the way I was accustomed to learning effectively. I truly don't have the time to deal with the hassles and roadblocks here. Actually I enrolled in a Vietnamese class today, hopefully starting next weekend. Vietnamese was my first love anyway, and there are more Vietnamese than Chinese in Houston. I have a very good chance to learn Vietnamese correctly because I don't know the wrong way to say anything yet!

I detect that some people have been inside the box much too long. Kitty has shown that she is capable of independant thought. Which I'm told is lacking in a socialistic society! John seems to know that people are working really hard to learn Chinese!!! John should know, because it now is much harder for me than it was when I first signed up for the basic package. I used to be able to copy & paste traditional characters directly from the pdf files. Now that is impossible. Now I first must download the pdf file, then click to get the text file, then copy & paste into a Word file, then copy all the characters into Google to get a translation from Simplified to Traditional characters, then copy that back into another Word file!!! That's the first problem!!! I used to be able to download the dialog only mp3 file because they only explain the difficult portions in a foreign language!! Now I have to load the mp3 file into my "way cool - as Kitty so aptly put it - Roxio program. Now I can edit it and then save it to a wave file, then convert that wave file back to a mp3 file!!! Yes John, we are working harder than ever to learn Chinese!!!
