在他小的时候， 他非常矮 （he was very short when he was small)

there is another word called "爱, which has a similar usage like this one 

爱 +verb( get used to doing something) 
他很爱感冒 （he always get sick) 

爱+verb （love to do something) 
他很爱踢足球（he likes to play football)

爱+adjective
她很爱漂亮 （she likes to be pretty)

Thanks for this useful qing wen, guys!  the antonym of “有嘴没舌 ” is "伶牙俐齿" (have the gift of gab) 

eg: 他伶牙俐齿，没人辩得过她 （she has the gift of gab and nobody is able to argue her down)
