@bill,

P...ed (without OFF) means to be drunk, as in full of p...

Mind you, there are other words that could have been used.  I try not to use those terms myself, and for the benefit of users of this site whose first language is not English, these terms are not polite.

What amuses me is that chinese visas cost different amounts depending on which country you come from.  Aussies pay a lot less than Yanks!!

I think they must like us more ;)

Pete - be careful what you say about TW - you might lose your visa tomorrow!

Future Qingwen -

At sometime I would like to know when to use dui4 对,wei 为,and gei3 给 for English "for", acknowledging they have other meanings in context.

I can't say I ever heard trucks talking while in China - just wasn't in the position at the right time.

However a lesson which includes the message on the trains - long distance when nearing destination, as well as the subway trains, would be good.  Oh, and the buses - what is the recorded message they use?  I realise it might be different in different places.

Coming out from the summer palace in Beijing some young guys met me and asked if I wanted a taxi.  Being wary I at first said "no," but they assured me it had a meter.  So I agreed.  Well, it did, but it went around awefully fast!  And they charged me about 80 kuai when I think it should have been no more than 30.

However on the trip to the Summer Palace I had negotiated a good price with a poor looking middle-aged guy in a beaten-up old car.

Really liked this lesson for the sequencing it includes and other connections.  I'd love another recipe lesson too sometime - lots of possibilities, and all those possible verbs to do with cooking and preparing food - great stuff.

@Changye

Thanks for the extra info you have given on the poem's format.  I appreciate it.
