Thanks, pretzellogic!
I can't believe that, in my zeal for helping the tech team to hunt down and fix all remaining bugs, I almost missed this post.

A newly acquired love it seems. Come on, you need one more +ve comment to bring that percentage under 50.

I really want to congratulate you and your tech team for this really cool new feature. As many have already said, its great how we can "mute" certain annoying posts or comments as well. The site is looking great! keep up the good work!

I really like the layout of the new dashboard, and it seems to be working smoothly. It makes it easier to track and manage all the different things you can do with Chinesepod. There are some features I'd like to see added, like the ability to track all the conversations of groups I'm a member of at once, similar to how you can already track all of the conversations on Chinesepod with the "all groups" option, but I'm sure the team's going to be working diligently in response to feedback over the next few months.

Would you buy a used car from this poddie? (I think he might be pulling our collective legs.)

Really? Would you please let everyone know how this is done.

I just wanted to add that I also like the new dashboard. I like the more compact lesson view, as well as having the comments on the same page... especially the Replies to Me tab. Maybe there is more tweaking to be done, but I think the changes are good for more efficient Chinese learning, and I don't think it interferes with the fun we can have doing it. And that is why I learn here!

In my opinion it is worse to NOT "complain" or help to find bugs. Most people here support Cpod and want them to be "better" and therefore point out the flaws.
However, I do feel sorry for all the people who worked / are working hard on it, it is just more fun to hear nice things and praise! So 加油 and good luck!

Actually, I do not find it frustrating and to be honest did not expect anything else when implementing "innovations" :-). Things usually go this way and there will always be unexpected bugs because developers and end users see and use things differently. I think it is just a matter of the right communication & a little time and things will be back to normal !

Thanks Chanelle77! We understand this is a frustrating time, as most change usually is (facebook comes to mind). We are sorry for all of the bugs and you're right- it's better to report them and to make sure they're fixed than to remain tacit and let the problems persist. Thanks for your support!

Yeah, I totally agree with this. Although I have expressed dissatisfaction, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the hard work that has been put into it. Hopefully, all of the changes will magically start working properly soon in a way we all can accept.

@chanelle77, absolutely! There is a book dealing with quality control called, "A Complaint is a Gift." http://www.amazon.com/Complaint-Gift-Janelle-Barlow/dp/1881052818
Hehe, apparently there is a lot of giving going on here.

Actually, at one point all such conversations were showing up in their entirety.

People's credit card details, contact info, names etc. were NOT made public. What was showing up was part of the first sentence of conversations exec. and guided students were having with teachers. We recognize the seriousness of this issue and this bug was one of the first to be fixed. If you have any other questions, please let us know!

What kind of private information was made public? Credit card details? Or nothing as bad as that? I've kind of missed what's been going on the past few days.

170,000 test users!
I voted with my dollars and cancelled my subscription yesterday (100% refund, no questions asked). One reason (of many reasons - I will not go into the details here) was that everything about my and other users' subscriptions was suddenly open to the public.

For me the interface has never been that big of a deal. It's the lessons that matter. In that vein, the revised lesson tests, the ability to hide expansion translations, and the addition of traditional character support were huge improvements. As long as the upgrade doesn't cause the site to crash (ala iceberg), I'm fine.

Of the 181,000 or so cpod subscribers, maybe only 400 or so post. I'm ok if the 399 of the posters don't like the dashboard, and I do.
Ultimately, vote with your dollars. If enough people stop subscribing, cpod will get a pretty powerful message.

Wow, what a 高高兴兴 statement! Seems you are the only one...
Sometimes I think ChinesePod should pay us some bucks as compensation for our lost time while hunting bugs in their software.

Speaking for myself, I am just as likely to come up and post a comment to give thanks and/or praise (I do, when I see reason to) as I am to complain (I only complain when I have reason to.)--not that I don't get your meaning about human nature.
User feedback is vital to any business or service. I'm sure CPod understand that and are listening. After all, these changes came about from their listening to feedback from people who weren't happy with the user experience here before (= at least some of that feedback we can assume were complaints), only such complaints were mostly made privately.
I'm sorry, didn't mean to go on like this.

i agree!! unfortunately people are more likely post a comment to complain than give praise, it's our human nature...
plus in the end i don't really care, i'm still learning from these great chinese lessons so that's what's important - keep up the good work chinesepod!

April 21, 2010 at 08:21 AMI agree with tvan above "the ability to hide expansion translations, and the addition of traditional character support were huge improvements."
It's about the content and the usability -
so many comments about the posts - stop with the fluff and get on with it
