You a great researcher. The character.字 Is more used for a single character/word. The character 词 Is used for phrases, more then character. Such as 歌词、词语. Did your teachers in 东北 have any other points of difference?

Hello misterx, the translation of that is actually correct. Literally it does mean a Chinese character, however when spoken in conversation and when natives use it it's understood that you are asking about a word, the word/character. Jenny is a native Chinese speaker and I'm just proud of her for willing to use English on camera. I just encourage everyone to get out there and not be afraid to speak something that is not their heart language. We aren't done with adding hosts to ChinesePod. Thanks!

It actually happened in Bali, and I knew of someone else that was flying to London close to when I was going and had them meet up with me to deliver my replacement phone. So it was in the UK where I finally got reconnected! ;) Although at the London meet up I was told some stories of phones being taken.

您好， 您说的没错。在Dialogue里的对话是用变流器，因为在字典里面converter的翻译是变流器。字典里-变压器的翻译是transformer,而在中国大家称converter变压器。。希望大家对着两个翻译有些认识。很多人有同样的疑问，我们在视频里的dialogue说的是变压器，我们在课程生词也是用-变压器，因为那是最普遍的说法。谢谢您提出来。
