A good rule of thumb is to listen to things that also interest you in your native language. If you have no interest in Politics in your native language, it's likely you will have zero interest hearing it talked about in Chinese.

May 24, 2016 at 1:27 AMRe: the English for Tannoy, I thought that sounded a bit colloquial as I was writing it. It turns out it's a Scottish loudspeaker and PA manufacturer, founded in 1926. I guess it's one of those brands like Hoover/Coke/Thermos, that has become "nounified".

May 19, 2016 at 1:51 AMdào has many meanings, most of them being a classifier of long thin things (rivers etc), or for things in the shape of a line. It's also a MW for questions in an exam, courses in a meal, and steps in a process. In this case, it is a meal measure word.
