Since it's in the expansion section we experimented with an alternative measure word for car. In the southern provinces of China and Taiwan, both 辆 and 台 are common measure words for car since 台 is a measure word for machines. In general, provinces in the South have a greater range of measure words, so it's good to learn the variety. 辆 is the most common way to measure cars however. Thanks for your question.

In simplified the first character is the same, in traditional, there is a 人 radical on the side which often means a 3rd tone pronunciation. Weirdly, they both appear at different levels on the HSK. The more common pronunciation is 2 4th tones (HSK5).

I just checked the HSK word lists, and 4th/4th appears on level 5, and 3rd/4th on level 6 (like the dictionary says).

Both are fine to say. Does anyone else know of any different usages? Which do you hear most commonly where you are?

Apple has "stolen" the f.lux idea and baked it into the next version of iOS (9.3). They blocked the app that f.lux made, but hopefully the next release means that you can use your phone in bed at night without affecting your sleep. (blue light inhibits melatonin which promotes sleep, whereas orange light doesn't).

This was made in September. More recent lessons should contain less English. Alternatively, try some Advanced lessons along with your Upper Intermediate classes for the best results.

Measure words always follow a number. In this case it means 30 "small round things"

You can find more about measure words here.

Yes the white text on light blue background was not the best Idea. Newer lessons should have better contrast. You can always use the lesson notes alongside the video if it's a big problem.

Thanks for getting in touch.

This should be fixed now. It was a problem with the generation of the PDF. You can always check the text version if this ever happens again, and I can fix the PDF in the meantime.
