- 经理／經理／jīng lǐ = manager/director.
One might refer to their manager or whomever has a position of responsibility, informally or colloquially as "boss" just as you might in English, or your mother tongue. However, someone who is not the owner of the business will of course not say that they are the lǎo bǎn and will refer to their correct job title. If the owner of the business is female, one could refer to them as lǎo bǎn niáng／老板娘／老闆娘。

In actual fact, nà and nèi (zhè/zhèi) are not interchangeableand it’s not a North/South thing either.
nèi/zhèi are colloquial spoken forms of the character nà yī／zhè yī.
But there are some exceptions, for example, zhè yàng (这样） and zhèi yàng are both common, one is formal and one is heard “on the street”. In this case it is not zhè yī yàng （这一样）.
Just remember you ought not use them interchangeably. You can’t say nèilǐ 那里
A final note, you can pronounce the character 那／这 as nèi and zhèi when you have numbers bigger than one, but remember, this is colloquial and up to personal preference.

November 13, 2015 at 4:02 AMYou're right. It was a bit on the easy side so I have updates the lesson description and called it a "bridge lesson". In the future we are planing on adding a new lesson level (pre-intermediate) to filter lessons that are too hard for elementary, and too easy for intermediate, although this is quite a large undertaking when we have so many lessons to sort as well as updating the website code.

The dictionary also has an alternate character with the actual fire radical underneath. 煮/煑
