正常人 also means 'normal person', but in the context of talking specifically about people without handicaps, the word 正常人 is used.

You mean the first sentence under 就算, right?

就算 doesn't necessarily indicate a possibility/hypothetical. It can, but it can also describe a situation. (Like it does in the dialog) In these situations, 'even though' or 'granted that' can work as translations as well.

This is a good question. 'Peer-reviewed' changes in translation depending on the context. The key though is the 评审 (píngshěn), or 'review'. 同级评审 (tóngjí píngshěn)，专家评审 (zhuānjiā píngshěn)，同行评审 (tóngháng píngshěn)，同业评审 (tóngyè píngshěn) all work depending on who the peers are. And general research is 研究 (yánjiū).

Thanks, Zlj. I actually feel like the lessons I've recorded after this one have gotten more natural. :)

The 哎 in this lesson was pronounced with 2nd tone, so the pinyin for the rollover isn't correct.

欸 is interchangeable with 哎, but it's used less frequently. 哎 can be any tone (even 3rd) just depending on the tone one is trying to convey.

Great question. 他看起来怎么样？ can't be used to ask about someone's appearance. It's different than 他长得怎么样？in that it's asking about the person's condition, rather than their appearance. (ill, unhappy, excited, etc.)
