Zhè here is 'this', or 这. So, literally - 'This I really didn't notice'. The 'this' is referring to the line before: 单眼皮还是双眼皮？ So, the speaker didn't really notice if the girlfriend had single or double eyelids.

Haha, thanks. And yep, you can put anything there. (be it a person, a place, thing, etc) But as Jenny said in the podcast, when it comes to people, it is a bit direct and less innocent than 'I like...'.

Good question. Just like in English, you can make something a question using only your tone.

However, if you were to add a 吗 to the end of this sentence, it would be a direct question: 'Did you get a new girlfriend again?"

Without the 吗, and with just a question mark, it's more of a rhetorical question - (likely in response to seeing/hearing something about the new girlfriend.)

No problem. As far as tone marks go, the neutral tone isn't marked. So, although I included it as I typed, when I hit the 'convert to tone marks button below', the 5 was left out.

If you write the tones with numbers, you can write, nv3hai2er5. (or leave it out)

Hi Stephen,

1) Nope! I'm assuming you mean 'nà', right? Nà means 'that', and 'gè' is a measure word for many things. So, literally nàgè means 'that thing'. You can also just say 'nà', however, for 'that'.

2) The 5 is for the neutral tone, or the tone that isn't really a tone. So, 女孩儿 is nǚháier, the 5 being for the 儿 er.

3) The pinyin for cute is kěài. We just added it, thanks.

When I read this sentence, I feel like it wouldn't be a permanent trade either, but I just asked Jiaojie and apparently it can! So, in this case, although 一下 gets annotated as 'briefly', it's not necessarily about actual time, but rather, softening the tone of the verb. (you could also say 我们换换吧)

It's OK to translate 我要换工作 as 'I would like to/I'm going to change my job', but it sounds a bit unnatural in English to say 'change' jobs. We usually something along the lines of, 'find a new job'.

As for a negative response to 你还要买什么吗? both of your suggestions are good! You could also say, 不要了 or 不买了.

Just wanted to chime in that I'm glad you noticed. This one can throw people off. I almost translated it as, "Lets make up a game" or something like that, but thinking back to my childhood, I realized I would still just say 'play a game'. But, yeah, as Jiaojie says, if you make up the game yourself, you can use 做.

We'll be doing lower levels (ele and intermediate) for now. As for frequency, you'll be hearing more of Dilu than myself, but I'll be doing the occasional lesson as well.
