September 15, 2007 at 2:07 AMI've read that in the South some people pronounce their 5's like 我, or perhaps the other way around, and their 8's like 发. So, 58 is suppose to sound like 我发 as in 我发财. At least, that's what my New Practical Chinese Reader tells me. =)

September 14, 2007 at 1:06 PMThat's what I'm thinking. =) From what I've read in other places, hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago, China, Japan and Korea all wrote in classical Chinese? Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

September 14, 2007 at 4:51 AM你们俩感觉学韩语怎么样? 跟汉语相比怎么样? 过几年我打算去日本学日语. 不过学博士的时候我还可能必须学别的语言.如果这个情况发生了我可能要学韩语.不是韩语就是俄语.

September 14, 2007 at 1:54 AMThis whole time I haven't know my basic shapes. Maybe because that's because I don't ever have to say to my students, "Stand up and make a square!" Once again, I'm humbled.

September 13, 2007 at 6:40 AMMaybe our next business man (or woman) could be a little more interesting. I mean, hammers? C'mon... I really liked the lessons on the dark evil underworld of China. What about some cool Chinese mafia business lessons?

September 9, 2007 at 9:05 AMThe 'g' should be pronounced there. Otherwise you get a 'shan' sound, which is very different.
