Sadly it seems that henning is too busy to comment on this issue further, so I was recalling a TV show I saw once about wild chimpanzees. A famous researcher (can't recall who) remotely filmed a male chimp visiting a beautiful isolated waterfall. The behaviour was interesting. Apparently the animal seemed deeply moved by the rushing water and the thunderous sound, leaping and cavorting, occasionally uttering wild whoops of joy. And yet would often pause and stare at the water in silence, sometimes making gestures to absent friends. Perhaps one facet of the origin of man's 'spiritual' feeling can be seen here, in some kind of awe at the natural world that boils over into ecstasy and a sense of the numinous .

It's not so funny, I also have no time for soap in English. But I do think Chinese soaps are good for developing essential listening ability. Character recognition too, (Chinese TV is invariably subtitled, and I often just practice reading the subtitles.)

I pretty much agree with all you say baba, but I can't help feeling the ending is, well... a bit abrupt? This has been a really great series, so much useful and interesting language to learn, and a real 'soap opera' feel to it as we jog along with these characters and love or hate them by turns. Seems to me the story could go on a bit longer, more twists and shocks revealed and interesting developments to come. But then it does fit into the CPod tradition of sudden endings I guess, seems like they don't like stories going on too long here.

Anyway a very big thank you to jiaojie and to CPod for a bold, lively and colourful trip through the tangled web of marital infidelity.
