Interesting nuance. Thanks Jason!

You can't get chopsticks for left-handed people anywhere, so it runs deep.

Here's an expansion sentence for which I think the English translation is not quite right:

一见钟情
(We fell in love with each other at first sight.)

Shouldn't it be:
I fell in love with him at first sight. (?)

Oh right, goes like this:

Jenny: John,

John:

Jenny:

Here 像 has a meaning like "looks like that, seems that way", so I guess Jenny means John has all the qualities of a Taurean. What are they? I'm a Taurean too!

You could try navigating the Chinese file-sharing site I also recommended Bob, hard work perhaps but pretty sure not to be blocked. I'm afraid the censorship issue here is relentless re. foreign file share sites.

(I've only just got the chance to sit down and listen to this lesson, I'll comment re. that first question later.)

I think it's simply:

我失眠了。 Wǒ shīmián le.(for the first 2 there) and

Wǒ tài lèi le. Wǒ zuótiān wǎnshang yòu shīmián le. (for the third one)

So I have to ask: what famous scientist did John and his wife name their dog after?

My enquiry relates to this expansion sentence:

那个酒吧乱七八糟不想
(That bar is dodgy. I really don't want to go.)

I really don't get how 乱七八糟 means 'dodgy' here. If someone said that to me I'd assume they meant the place was a mess, not well-run maybe. But dodgy?
