A, B .......Compare to (A), (B) is more......

December 14, 2016 at 3:36 AMWe're sorry for the mistake. It is actually just one 了。HOWEVER! It is actually funny saying 失败了了 , meaning absolutely everything fell and done. I have never heard of it though. 了了 is a pretty rare saying.
Posted on: Entire/Whole: 整 (zhěng) vs 全 (quán) [Video/Audio]
December 14, 2016 at 3:22 AMYour attempt is absolutely correct.
全部的苹果我都想吃 sounds like there are lots of apples.整个苹果 refers to one complete apple.整盘苹果 refers to one complete plate of apples.

December 14, 2016 at 3:19 AM全 is more formal and condensed than 整,since this example sentence “整个城市是我的游乐场” is pretty casual you wouldn’t use 全。
Take a look at these more formal situation with condensed language:
- 选手来自全市20区The athletes are from 20 districts of the whole city.
The whole city grieved over the earthquake anniversary.
Here is one other casual example with 整
Their team won. Everyone in the whole city were happy.
Posted on: All about Can: 能 (néng),会 (huì),可以 (kěyǐ)
December 14, 2016 at 2:45 AM能is used in a situational restriction that makes a person unable to do something. Since the person needs to drive it restricts him/her from drinking.
And yes, the police would tell you “喝酒以后不可以开车。” since 不可以 is majorly used to mean "permissibility"

November 30, 2016 at 5:53 AMYes. In this usage, the situation allows/ doesn't allow you to do something, 可以 and 能 overlaps significantly. However, when people say yes we often say 可以. When we say no it's more common to say 不能. We would say the following two sentences.
- When you say 能 it's more possible talking about intrinsic capability. Although since the context is clear "我今天不忙"This sentence, "我今天不忙,能看电视" makes sense but we don't usually say that.
- Saying 不可以 makes the meaning lean towards permissibility.
You can't go to class. You have to work.

November 30, 2016 at 3:21 AM演讲 and 讲演 are used almost interchangeably. I would say 讲演 has a tiny bit more focus on talking (讲) than acting (演)It depends on personal word choice.

November 30, 2016 at 2:57 AM成瘾is used to talk about a serious addiction, like drug addiction (毒品成瘾)
上瘾 is used when the emphasis is on "getting into the habit of doing something."
We would say
Jogging is like smoking marijuana. It's addictive.
Marijuana is not strongly addictive.

December 21, 2016 at 3:41 AM这人 is just a short saying of 这个人
The usage of 我这个人 , 他那个人 is inappropriate in formal situations and puts lots of emphasis on that person mentioned. When describing your own personality with close friends you aren’t saying it in a respectful way so you can use ”我这个人比较西化”
