Wow, I just discovered this lesson and the vocabulary and phrases in it are so awesome and relevant to my life in China. I wish I knew this for all the times I went to formal dinners with Chinese doing all the 干杯.

I've had a few experiences with 不醉不归 when my school takes us foreign teachers on trips to teach at other schools in my province. The local party leaders all want to get us drunk.

We even had a wine drinking competition my first year in a small town in guangxi province with the mayor. Men and women stood on chairs downing large glasses of full red wine with their arms locked together (I forget the chinese word for that). Most of foreign and Chinese staff were so wasted by the end of the night after that. One foreign teacher drank so much that he threw up everywhere, defecated in his pants and had to go to the hospital. That was the most extreme version of 不醉不归 I had ever witnessed.

Anyway, awesome lesson.

If this was Englishpod, I could write pages of funny English mistakes I've encountered since I've been teaching in China
