Isn't the measure word for dog 只 not 条, as in 一只狗?

I love to learn more 俗语 and 成语.

In the video, 炒 was accompanied by a photo of fried eggs, but I thought fried eggs are called 煎蛋 rather than 炒蛋?

I find 火锅 too slow, I don't have patience to wait for stuff to be cooked in front of me.

My family and I are visiting Shanghai for the first time in July, and plan to take the taxi from the airport to the hotel. So, I would like to ask those of you who have done this before :-

- Is it convenient to get a taxi from the airport? Is there a taxi queue?

- Are there many taxi companies? If so, which ones are more reputable/safer?

- Roughly how much $ to get from airport to the city?

- Is there a money changer in the airport?

- Do I need a special taxi if I have a small child, i.e. need booster seat?

- Are Shanghai taxi drivers knowledgable about hotel locations? In the city I live in, I frequently have to direct the taxi drivers to my destinations.

Thank you very much for any tips you can provide.

@mikeinewshot

I find www.nciku.com an excellent place to get examples of usage of any word, phrase or saying. Just paste in the Chinese text and it will return lots of examples, complete with pinyin and pronunciation. Its free and worked for all the phrases I've entered thus far.

Why is it that the stupid person in most lessons is usually male?

OTOH, it would have been funnier to stick to the original title, and make the employee do something really stupid.

My review of the movie: Great action scenes, OK acting, poor dialogue, atrocious ending.

@bababardwan

haha 你的汉堡 google video 真好笑啊.

On a related food word...once, someone told me he had 热狗 for lunch. At that time I thought he meant hot stew with dog meat or something like that. Silly me.

我学中文的主要原因也是和你的一样, 但是我女儿才两岁.

(My reason for studying chinese is mainly also the same as yours, however my daughter is only 2 years old.)

I have a question regarding the measure word 套 for house. Is it for any house or only for apartments? I know for a big building, i can use 一座楼. Can I use 一座房子 for a house?

What does "University Town Station" (in photo) mean?

On the issue of poor guys losing out...

While its unfortunate for the guys who can't afford a house, this is really natural selection in action, in populations where there are more individuals that can be sustained by the eco-system. Obviously, there can never be enough economic resources for every person to own a house, car, etc., therefore, it makes sense to select those who have more than others when choosing a mate, so that traits that confer resourcefulness may be passed on to the next generation.

At least now in a free market, every person has the opportunity to make money if he/she is resourceful, even if born poor.

IMHO, 丁丁炒面 was not very nice (at least in the 新疆 restaurant I visited). Tasted like oily lamb pasta.

On the other hand, 羊肉串儿 was very tasty. The powder spice that was sprinkled all over effectively masked the lamb smell.
